Spring 2009 Ready to Wear

I am finally getting back to posting my favorites collections and pieces from the Spring 2009 Ready to Wear shows. See below.....

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Gucci

Not surprisingly, I really enjoyed the Gucci collection. I particularly loved the vibrant colors and bold graphic prints. The lineup made me want to go on a tropical vacation wearing the floaty dresses and conversely be a funky business gal dressed in the hip suits. The fedoras, belts and scarves were cool additions that could be easily mimicked.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Badgley Mischka

The pieces in Badgley Mischka's spring 2009 collection are beautiful and polished with lovely ruffles and some hints of sparkle and beading. The collection looks and feels like spring to me with pretty whites, creams, violets and aquas.

Spring 2009 Ready-To-Wear: Rebecca Taylor

Rebecca Taylor's breezy, bohemian collection would certainly be welcome in my closet. The clothes look cozy and romantic, and many have cool, sparkly metallic accents for some added hippie glamour. You could pair the dresses and skirts with heels, sandals or flip flops and always look chic.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Michael Kors

American, classic, sophisticated and a little bit retro is how I would describe Michael Kors' primary colored collection. Graphic prints, gingham and bold solids were heavily present. It's definitely not too risky or wild, but fun and appealing enough to surely get noticed.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Monique Lhuillier

It's no secret that Monique Lhuillier makes beautiful, flattering dresses for women. Her spring 2009 collection did not disappoint. The dresses are feminine and romantic and I especially love all the different necklines, beading and belts. I'm sure we'll see a few of these again on the red carpet.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Vera Wang

Vera Wang's show consisted of simple shapes and a lot of shift dresses and tunics in a muted color palate. What really made the outfits and caught my eye were the fabulous chunky necklaces and belts she showcased.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Valentino

I thought Valentino's collection was gorgeous. The designs were pretty and polished with luxe looking fabrics. Although it was somewhat understated, many of the looks were embellished with jewel-encrusted details, braiding and embroidery.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Tory Burch

Tory Burch's spring collection is classic, stylish and wearable. The clothes are appropriate for various ages and can be mixed up for a variety of different looks. I like the unexpected pairings of patterns and subtle colors.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Zac Posen

Zac Posen's collection was soft, feminine and pretty with simple colors, very few prints and lovely details such as ruffles and rouching. Perfect party frocks if you ask me.

FALL in love

It is now officially fall - my former favorite season. I say former because living in LA you'd never know it's autumn - it's hotter now than it's been the past couple of months. It's like this every year. And each year I listen in envy as my friends and family in other parts of the country talk about the gorgeous changing foliage in their region, the apple and pumpkin picking excursions they go on, and how they must bundle up in cozy garb to ward off the brisk air I crave this time of year.

Even as an LA dweller I still don a scarf whenever possible and drink the seasonal flavored lattes to put myself in the spirit of the season, but it just isn't the same. Note: most times I cannot do the aforementioned activities simultaneously any time before Thanksgiving; wearing a super warm scarf whilst drinking a hot festive beverage is grounds for unwelcome sweating.

Fashion-wise I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, however. I can still wear my cute boots and keep them cute, as they're not used for warmth or trekking through the elements. My outfits aren't always covered up by a big, bulky coat. And I can wear flip flops year-round, which is especially necessary when heading to the beach (I guess that aspect isn't so bad either).

This weekend my SoCal peeps and I are having a fall party and are participating in one of the best pastimes during this time of year, no matter where you live - watching college football. While rooting for our Cougs we will be drinking (cold) seasonal ales and dining on autumn-inspired dishes. Our attire will most likely be sundresses, not sweatshirts and perhaps we'll take a walk along the ocean after our feast.

It imagine seems as if I have acclimated somewhat.....

My Apologies

I am sorry for the tremendous lack of posts as of late. Fortunately I have a new job, unfortunately (for blogging purposes among others) I can no longer "home from work." I am going to try to be better about setting time aside to blog at night and on weekends, I swear. Does anyone even visit or care anymore? :)

Budget Friendly Blair

I saw this pretty Pleated Crepe Dress in the October issue of Lucky Magazine and was so surprised it was from Chadwick's. It comes in 5 colors and is only $59! I can totally see Blair Waldorf sporting this dress with some knee-highs, mary janes, fab handbag and of course, a colorful headband. I think I may have to make a purchase....

Topshop is here!

Well, it's at least here virtually.....British retailer Topshop has launched a US website! No stores yet, but they're opening one in NYC this fall. I LOVE Topshop and have spent countless hours (and pounds) there when in London. For those who aren't familiar with the store, I'd compare to Forever 21, but higher end. This could be trouble! :)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I am seriously loving all of the color options J. Crew is offering for fall. I want everything!

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: 3.1 Phillip Lim

My favorite pieces from 3.1 Philip Lim's Spring 2009 ready-to-wear collection are classy and relatively simplistic with the exception of pretty details like ruffles, rouching and fringe. The color palate is neutral for the most part, which makes it easy to switch up each of the looks with the addition of different accessories, such as a bold shoe or handbag.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear: Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg's spring 2009 ready-to-wear collection was one of my favorites shown in New York last week. It's feminine, flirty, and fun. I love the gorgeous hues and color combinations she used. All of the outfits look comfortable and effortless. The dresses are especially gorgeous and the majority of them are suitable for everyone, not just rail-thin runway models.
