New Kicks on the Block

I finally got a new pair of workout shoes, the Nike Livestrong Lunar Haze.  It took a couple weeks to get used to them, but now they're as comfy as can be and I really like the looks of them (the only difference is mine have an all yellow tongue).  Yay!

I also got a new pair of DV by Dolce Vita Wedges for spring/summer at Nordstrom Rack, but can't find them anywhere online.  They look kind of like these, but with a few less straps and they're elasticy.  Same tassel though, which I dig.

Double Duty

Love this idea! A hoodie that turns into a pillow.  Hello, space saver when packing! As if I need another reason to go to Lululemon...

Pick A Shoe, Any Shoe

Not only do I want new workout kicks, but I need them - for real.  My trainer even said so and she's the boss.  I'm a Nike devotee, but I can't decide which pair I want.  I strongly dislike plain white (momish) or super dark (boyish) shoes.  Every new pair I get has to have a pop of color.  Perhaps because I wear them approximately five days a week (often over) a year and I don't want to get bored. I've even designed my own (bright orange, neon green, white and grey) using NikeiD. That's probably the route I should take, but since I'm kind of impatient, I may have to settle for a readily available pair. These are the ones I've been eying. Obviously the fit and comfort are most important, but right now we're talking aesthetics. What do you think?
Row 3: Nike LunarFly+2 Women's Running Shoe, Nike Lunar Sweet Victory+ Women's Training Shoe, Nike LunarSwift+ Women's Running Shoe, LIVESTRONG Lunarfly+ 2 Women's Running Shoe

I want to wear these or these when cheering on the Cougs. Love the old school look!

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I'm sure everyone is like this, once you find an item you like, you often go back and buy multiples of it. I frequently do this. Below are a few of the basic pieces in my wardrobe I own at least three of, in various forms and colors. I'm sure I'm overlooking a bunch, but my brain isn't working at full capacity today for some reason. Feel free to share some of your faves too!

Day-to-day & lounging:
At the Beach

Namaste

J. Crew has come out with a yoga collection. I like the looks of it so far and all of the pieces are relatively affordable. While I am partial to my Lululemon pants and don't know if I could stray, the rest of the items are worth giving a try.

Motivation Music

I am on a constant search for new songs to add to my workout playlist. I have over 200 on mine, but I either get sick of certain songs quickly or find myself skipping some and listening to the same favorites. For weights, I can listen to a variety of music, but during cardio I have to have good beats; the faster the song, the more it gets me goin.' Below are some current (cardio) tunes I have in rotation. I'll do an additional posting in a few days with the rest of my list. Also, please send along any suggestions from your personal collection!

Taking the Bar

Bar Method, not Exam. Ha! That'd be a surprise. No, we're talking exercise here. This week my friend Ashleigh and I (and Jackie up in San Fran) started the Bar Method. It's only offered in 12 cities and of course, fitness frenzied LA is on the list. It's been kind of hard for me to describe, so here is the explanation from their website.

The Bar Method™ exercise system creates a uniquely lean, firm, sculpted body by reshaping and elongating muscles while maintaining an intense pace that burns fat and increases stamina. The hour-long class is composed of eight or nine strengthening exercises followed by stretches. The strength work combines holding positions that use the body’s own weight with small, controlled moves that increase range of motion and stamina. Stretching is focused on the hips, chest and lower back to improve posture and body alignment. Students begin the class with free weights and push-ups, move to the bar to work their legs and abdominals, and finish on mats for more core work and stretching.

And here are some examples of exercises.

So far I am really liking it. It's not particularly hard, but it's challenging. It's not the kind of workout where you're out of breath, tired and sweaty, but I can definitely tell it's working. After two classes I can totally feel it in the back of my legs, side of my butt, calves and in my triceps. I am sore, but not the kind of sore you get after lifiting weights at the gym. You know, the kind where you can't move or workout the following day? The only downfall I must admit however, is that I feel a little awkward doing long, lean ballet-like moves with my pitifully short legs.

I Be Up In The Gym Just Working On My Fitness

By far the best workout gear I have ever owned is Lululemon Athletica. They carry clothing such as pants, capris, jackets, tanks, sports bras, etc. And accessories like headbands, bags, yoga mats and more. Women's and Men's. Though a little pricier than typical workout clothing, it's definitely worth the cost

My favorite pants are the Groove Pant and the Sequence Crop. They have a wide, smooth waistband that isn't too high, or too low, they're quick drying and super comfy. As an added bonus, some pairs are reversible (reverse to all black and the logo is on the leg). Another plus is that Lulu will alter pants for free! That is a BIG bonus for my short legs! :) They come in all sorts of colors too - most of which are seasonal - so not everyone at the gym will be dressed the same.

I also love my Shape Up jacket. Its stretchy, moisture-wicking and has zippered pockets.

My most recent (less bank-breaking) purchase was a headband. Its so hard to find ones that are cute and stay put, but these double bands to the trick.
Next on my wish list are the Stretch Pant, Om Jacket, the Dance Studio Jacket and the Reverse Lulu Hoodie.
