Cat Deeley's On The Hot Tamale Train
I'm so glad So You Think You Can Dance is back; it's one of my favorite shows of the summer. I love the contestants, the choreographers and the stories...but dancing aside, I adore Cat Deeley. Each week, I look forward to seeing what she's wearing. If Mary Murphy put you on the HTT for fashion, Cat would certainly be the conductor! Cat styles herself and always has a different look. Sometimes she's super glam, other nights more boho, and then the next she will be sleek and classic followed by some trendy funk. The best part is that she always looks like she's having the best time. I think I'd like to be friends with her.
To see more of Cat's on-air looks from seasons 5 and 6 of SYTYCD, go here and here.
InStyle recently featured a spread on Ms. Deeley and we got a look at her to-die-for designer and vintage-heavy wardrobe.
When not hosting, Cat still looks just as fabulous. I don't think it's possible for her to look bad.
Side note: Once again, I have another serious case of hair envy. While I'm at it, I might as well trade bodies with her too. What's with everyone's ridiculously long legs. Not fair!

Waldo's Gotta Win!
Pretty please vote for this little mister (here). It's kind of a terrible website and it usually takes me about 3 tries to vote successfully, but he needs all the votes he can get to make it into the next round of the top 10 cutest pooches and then the $5K prize! Voting for the first round ends 05.27 at 5PM. I mean, he has to make it, just look at him! To further build his cuteness case, go over to his mamma's page and watch a video of his stellar tricks.

While looking at Mario Testino's fabulous photos, I came across a shoot he did of model Daria Werbowy for the May 2010 issue of Vogue. Coincidentally, it's called Americans in Paris and ever since Jamie and I have booked our trip, I have been sort of Paris-obsessed. The bottom two looks were my favorite, and rather easy to recreate without the high price tags.
PS. In addition to the clothes featured, I have serious hair envy here. I really wish I could have bangs!

Blake + Beach = Beautiful
Blake Lively is one of my favorites. Whether laid-back California girl next door or sexy, stylish New Yorker, I always love her style. The former is certainly her look in the June issue of Vogue and she looks stunning Oh what I wouldn't give for those legs....

This is Waldo
How can you resist this face? I know I can't. Since he doesn't do chores during the day while some of us are working, he's trying to make money simply by being cute. I think he's got a darn good chance, but I'm a little biased. Please click here to help this sweet fellow bring home the bacon (search by name and vote). Vote each day and tell your friends :)

Is everyone else as obsessed with this show and the Novogratz family as I am? I wish each episode lasted longer than and hour, I can't get enough! They seem so fun and and cool and appear to be totally awesome parents with well-behaved kids. I don't see how they find the time to create the awesome spaces they do, but I sure do love their work. I sooo want to live in one of their houses. Their work is funky and modern, but also cozy and livable, incorporating new and vintage. I especially like the many infusions of color and that not everything is matchy-matchy. Great inspiration. Check out their Sixx Design website to learn more.

BFF
I'm sure you all remember friendship bracelets. I loved going to the fabric store and buying all different colors of embroidery thread to make them. I would tape one end of the strings on the inside of my desk and make them during class while he teacher was talking. Looking ahead and listening (or pretending to), all the while busy making a little string creation as fast as I could. I was always envious of the girls who could make the wide bracelets with multiple colors and designs. Mine were thin and only had like 3 colors and I'm pretty sure I only knew how to make one kind.
Skip ahead roughly 20 years (yikes!) and Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reidnow of Frieda & Nellie have a line of funked up friendship bracelets. They're embroidery thread bracelets mixed with rhinestones, gems, metal and other embellishments. At $125-$150 a pop, they're a *tad* pricier than those from the past, but they sure are prettier. If any of my pals would like to give me one as a token of friendship, I will gladly accept :)
Here's a blurb about Frieda & Nellie from their website:
Reuse, Repurpose, Reinvent: That’s the mantra of bauble-making BFFs Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid, who came across colorful, woven friendship bracelets while traveling through the Galapagos in 2009 and realized that these little works of art could be retooled into sophisticated jewelry. They brought the bracelets home to New York and began combining them with pieces from their grandmothers’ vintage jewelry collections, creating a collection of old-and-new accessories named after the glamorous grannies, Frieda and Nellie.
When Women’s Wear Daily named F&N a promising up-and-coming design duo in February 2010, the girls quit their day jobs and amped up their labor of love. “We spent hours searching flea markets, estate sales, and vintage shops for pieces from the 1920s through the late 1970s that are similar to our grandmothers’ treasures,” Reid says.
Today, Herzog and Reid spend their days crafting boho-glam bracelets and necklaces in the heart of NYC, paying frequent visits to the Ace Hotel and playing with their dogs, Bambi and Levi.

You Know You Love It...The Tunes
Sadly we must bid adieu to Gossip Girl until next season. I will soon devote another post to the fabulous GG fashion, but currently my mind is on the music.
I always dig the tunes each week and often go to the show's music site to find out what was played each week. There's a list of the songs for every episode of each season. Additionally, the Music Supervisor, Alex Patsavas gives a little background on some of the songs, bands and artists picked. What an awesome job - seriously fun!
Listen to Serena Ryder's cover of Band of Horses' " The Funeral" from tonight's episode - love it.
xoxo

Seeing this reminded me that I've been wanting to do a sailor-inspired post. Luckily the nautical look is classic trend with longevity and can easily be interpreted in a variety of ways. To create a sea-worthy ensemble, simply combine primary colors, stripes, multiple buttons, rope details and anchor embellishments - though I'd limit to two or three, so as not to be too literal and costumey. Whether chilling on a yacht sipping some bubbly or simply cruising around town doing errands, you're sure to be the epitome of polished and stylish relaxation.
